Recommended Blog

Since I am doing alot of posting this morning and checking various sites that I like to read and post to I thought I would share a blog that I just recently ran across.

Mindless and Spineless.

I have read a couple of the articles on this blog and find that I tend to agree with the writer, at least so far. Take a moment and go take a look. Today's article is about the Global Warming Scam.

More on Hillary

An old friend of mine just passed me links to two articles about Senator Hillary Clinton. The First an LA Times story about her apology:

Hillary Clinton apologizes over Robert F. Kennedy remarks
by Glenn Thrush, Newsday May 24, 2008
WASHINGTON -- Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday invoked the June 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy to defend her decision to remain in the presidential race until at least June 3 -- sparking a wave of condemnation by Barack Obama's supporters.Clinton quickly expressed regret for the unprompted reference -- interpreted by many in Obama's camp as a suggestion that she thinks Obama's life might be in danger.

the Second an Opion Piece that I would like to share with you:

The Cancer That Is Hillary Clinton
Posted 5/24/2008 6:32 AM CDT

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post on Hillary Clinton’s remarks in South Dakota in which she referenced the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, I was appalled at the number of people who left comments excusing her comments as the result of fatigue or just an unfortunate choice of words.
So I did a little research and found out that this was the third time Hillary or a member of her campaign has made similar statements regarding the assassination of a Kennedy. I would hardly call that a momentary lapse in judgement, more like an obsessive thought, in my opinion.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian: More Swords, Less Sorcery

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian: More Swords, Less Sorcery
Sequel ups the action and loses some magic
By Ella Taylor
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - 11:59 am

“Things never happen the same way twice.” Thus boometh Aslan the lion (Liam Neeson), alias the Son of God, popping his computer-generated shaggy head briefly into The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian to pep-talk a bunch of discouraged Brits into fighting the good fight again.
As in life, so in sequels. Aslan and other once-key figures, and by extension the Christian ethics of author C.S. Lewis (who would likely have been more disgusted than amused to know that his wildly popular 1950s children’s novels have inspired a blooming 21st-century movie franchise), are no more than bit players in the new movie by Andrew Adamson. Not that the first Narnia did shabby business in 2005 — $65 million its first weekend, more than $700 million worldwide. But Part Deux comes with a visible mandate to bring home yet more bacon — on the order of, say, the Harry Potter movies — and to attract a slightly older and far more male demographic.

Fingerprints Not Personal Data?

Fingerprint Registry in Housing Bill!!!
Posted by John Berlau

Fingerprints are considered to be among the most personal of information, and fingerprint databases created and proposed in the name of national security have generated much debate. Recently, “Server in the Sky” — a proposed international database of the fingerprints of suspected criminals and terrorists to be shared among the U.S., U.K. and Canada — has ignited a firestorm of controversy. As have cavalier comments by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that fingerprints aren’t “personal data.”

Owner's Comments: I am not sure I completely agree with this guy but it is a troubling concept. At what point does our realistic need for security against Terrorists begin to infringe on our liberty.

Ted Kennedy

Sen. Kennedy fights for his life
By Kathy Kiely and Liz Szabo, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — When Edward Moore Kennedy first entered the Senate, at the barely constitutional age of 30 in 1962, then-president John F. Kennedy's younger brother faced skepticism about his qualifications.

Nearly half a century later, the news that the Massachusetts Democrat is battling a virulent form of brain cancer prompted a bipartisan outpouring of grief and good wishes for the man Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell described as "one of the most important figures ever to serve in this body in our history."

Something to think about

As we all feel the pain of the escalating price of Gasoline let me give you a few things to think about in regards to the TAXES you pay for Gas and a few other items.

Estimated profit for the Oil Companies on a Gallon of Gas ---10 Cents
in Texas Tax on a gallon of Gas------------------------------20 Cents

In Texas tax on a pack of Smokes ---------------------------$1.41
In Texas tax on a Gallon of Tequila--------------------------$2.40

If you would like to take a look at the Taxes on items in your state please go to: http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/245.html

Perhaps the people getting "Fat" off of the high prices of Gas and Smokes are not Big Oil and Big Tobacco instead it's Big Government!

Calif. congresswoman says home sale was improper

May 24 12:53 AM US/Eastern
By ERICA WERNER
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - California Rep. Laura Richardson claimed Friday that her Sacramento home was sold into foreclosure without her knowledge and contrary to an agreement with her lender.

She said she is like any other American suffering in the mortgage crisis and wants to testify to Congress about her experience as lawmakers craft a foreclosure-prevention bill.
In a lengthy interview Friday night with The Associated Press, the Southern California Democrat struck back against several days of negative publicity over reports she defaulted on her mortgage, allowing the house to be sold at auction.

Speaking of Idiots - Al Franken

Sex writing by Franken cited in race
By Aaron Blake
Posted: 05/22/08 07:48 PM [ET]

Minnesota Republicans unleashed one of their harshest piece of opposition research yet on Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken, pointing out a 2000 column, including graphic sexual descriptions, written by Franken for Playboy magazine.

The Minnesota Republican Party on Thursday circulated a letter from GOP women calling on Franken to apologize for the piece.
Owner's Note: Is this really the best the Democrats can do? I would be ashamed.

Porn Tax Considered As Solution To Budget Shortfall

by Doug G Ware

LOS ANGELES - California state lawmakers are considering an unusual idea to solve the state's huge budget shortfall: Tax pornography.

The idea was proposed by a state assemblyman, and would impose a 25 percent tax on the production and sales of pornographic videos -- the vast majority of which are made in southern California.

California ban on same-sex marriage struck down

(CNN) -- The California Supreme Court struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage Thursday, saying sexual orientation, like race or gender, "does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold legal rights."

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are taking care of business this off season.

They signed RB Marion Barber to a new long term Contract worth a ton of money and ensuring that Barber will remain a Cowboy for the forseeable future. They also inked a deal with CB Terrance Newman. To read all of the details please go to: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3405348

Pacman Jones, the thug that Jerry Jones signed this off season who is hoping that the NFL Commissioner will reinstate, continues to get his name in the paper with legal "Problems". This time it was a gambling debt in Las Vegas. Pacman apparently does not understand that you have to PAY your markers in Vegas. Terrell Owens the eternal troublemaker of the Eagles and 49ers seems to be turning over a new leaf in Dallas. When asked about his contract recently Ownes said “It’s not an issue, For me, I’m going to go out and let my play do the talking. Jerry [Jones] is aware of my ability.” To read the whole story please go to: http://www.star-telegram.com/332/story/657572.html

Texas Rangers (MLB)

Our Little Texas Rangers are actually playing very good baseball. Their record stands at 25 wins and 25 losses and they are only 4 games out of first place in the American League West. They have won 7 of their last 8 series and split the 8th against the Minnesota Twins.

They started a three game series against the slumping Cleveland Indians. The Rangers won the first game 13 to 9 in a real slugfest. I expect that Clevelands pitching will soon return the Indians to prominance but lets hope that it starts after this weekend.

Blalock was supposed to return to the Rangers this weekend and start his new job at first base. However his return has been delayed as he fights through a case of carpel tunnel syndrome.

Josh Hamilton continues to tear up pitching in his mad dash for the MLB Triple Crown. Josh has a .335 batting average (2nd in the AL), leads the AL with 12 home runs and leads all of Major League Baseball with 53 RBI's. If you would like to read more about Josh's stats please follow this link: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=4652

Hillary Brings Up Kennedy Assassination, Press Freaks Out

by Aaron Bruns
BRANDON, SD - Another example of the power of the Drudge Report today, as a NY Post story pointing out that Clinton brought up the assassination of Robert F Kennedy in 1968 during an editorial board meeting sent reporters traveling with Clinton into a frenzy.

Asked by South Dakota newspaper the Argus Leader why she didn’t buy the argument that the party was fracturing because of the prolonged contest, Clinton said “my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June.”

Update

It's been a very rough few weeks but I think we are finally starting to stem the flow. The Doctor's visit today went extremely well.

Ok it's two days later.......

As I started to say the Doc visit with the specialist went very well. He thinks that Darlene's recovery was going slow because she was over-medicated. He took her off a couple of the meds and started weening her off of one of the others. Her progress since then has been extremely good.

I will Try to update this blog more tommorrow

Prayer Request

I rarely ask favors of yall for personal matter but tonight I need to ask one. Last Monday my sweet wife Darlene had a "Small" Stroke. Our Family Doctor (Who in my opion is one of the best doctors in the world) after examing her and running some tests discovered that their was apparenly no permanent damage but still put her in the hospital. By Tuesday she was beginning to talk normally again. However on Wendsday she developed a new problem, she was unable to stand or walk without getting very dizzy and falling. Thursday she was unable to to walk at all. Friday she seemed to be getting better so she insisted that I go to the County Chairman training in Austin this weekend. Today the bottom seem to fall out from under us. Her condition took a turn for the worse and our Doctor told us that he was gonna try one more type of medicine but if that did not work by Monday he was gonna transfer her to Lake Pointe where the Specialist practiced.

This was at 3 this afternoon, I immediately left for Greenville. By the time I got up here (around 7PM) she was able to not only sit up but able to stand without getting dizzy and falling.

I am a firm beliver in modern medicine but it needs help. I am asking you all to please pray that my wife recovers. Thank You

Bill Hocutt

County Chair Training.

Tonight I find myself in Austin Texas. Tommorrow I have to attend a Training class for incoming County Chairs. On the plus side Tina Benkiser (State Chair) and Dr Robin Armstrong (State Vice Chair) will both be there. I always enjoy hearing Tina speak, she was a big hit at the Hunt County GOP Club picnic last year and I am hoping we can get her to come back again this year. I have heard Dr Armstrong speak a couple of times to large crowds BUT I was told that in a small group he is dynamite.

Of course the down side is that I would really rather be back in Hunt County right now. However, I volunteered for this job and Darlene told me she would not only understand me coming down here while she was in the hospital but would be mad if I didn't.

A week from Hades!!

This has been a week from Hades. My Sweet Wife, the light of my life and the reason I continue to fight so hard for what I believe in had a "Small" Stroke Monday. The Doctor (Let me say right now that I have total and complete confidence in our Doctor. Doctor Henry Underwood is without a doubt the best family Doctor I have ever encountered in my life.) says that Darlene will make a complete recovery and the MRIs and MRAs indicate that their was no permanent damage. One of the ongoing problems is that she has some "fluid" on the portion of her brain that controls her equilibrium. Wendsday she was completely undable to walk, she would immediately get dizzy and fall. By Today she could walk about 10 feet before she got dizzy. I understand that this is progress, but it scares the living crap out of me. Dr Underwood says she should be back to normal in 6 to 8 days but I am worried. So I ask that you please pray for her.

Dallas Area Sports Update

First the Good News, The Rangers are do NOT have the worst record in Professional Baseball at the moment. Of course that is because their game has not started yet and the San Diego Padres have already played and lost today. I figure the Rangers will retake the Worst record in about three hours
More Good News (Sorta). The Mavericks got their butts kicked in the first round of the playoffs again this year. This is good news because Mark Cuban (Owner of the Dallas Mavericks) fired Avery Johnson the very next day. That is step one in the rebuilding of our team. Step two is trading Josh Howard, for a half empty bag of popcorn if necessary. Then getting rid of Stackhouse and Damp.

The Real Good News. The Stars lead the series against the San Jose Sharks 3 to 1. Tonight is game 5 in San Jose, hopefully the Stars will close out the Sharks tonight and move onto the Western Conference Championship against the Detroit Red Wings.
