Today Prisilla Owens was confirmed as a Judge, Yippee. I find it impossible to get excited about this because Senator Reed has stated that the Democrats WILL filibuster more judges. So much for the "Deal" put together by Senator Quisling McCain and his gang of Seven Republican traitors. The Democrates cannot be trusted they will break this agreement the first time it will benefit them politically.

Today the "Runaway Bride" was indited for filing a false police report. I hope they do a plea bargain deal because I dont honestly believe that any jury in America would send her to Jail for having cold feet on the Marriage. Even if she did act like a complete spoiled brat and totally ignore the needs, concerns and feelings of everyone else involved in this story.

Excuse me for a moment while I rant about something that has nothing to do with Judges or Cowardly brides. I am sick and tired of people insulting, slamming, belittling and labeling religions they disagree with as a cult. Yes, their are cults out there, Yes, their are sick demented religions out there (Islam as practiced by Osamma Bin Laden springs to mind) but the fact that Mormons, Catholics, Jews or Assemble of God folks dont all believe exactly the way I do or you do does not mean that they are a cult and need to be condemned to Hell. None of us breathing know for a fact how God wants us to worship, anyone that says he does has more in commen with the Taliban and Ossama Bin Laden than they do with Peter, Paul or any of the other disclpes. There is a reason the First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, the reason is that the founding fathers understood that religious intolerance leads to religious bigotry.

Fine... freedom of religion... how about keeping your religion out of politics?

The Second half of todays blog was articulated beautifully. Wow, simple truth in the way you put it.Very eloquent. But calling McCain a traitor for getting this deal done so we can get on with more important matters illustrates the same wrongheaded thinking that pits Evangelicals against more liberal christians. You would be hard pressed to find a better man in politics in either party than McCain. He isnt trying to win a battle between Republicans and democrats as if its some absurb football game with attached bragging rights. Walking the party line is NOT a good thing. Using your head is. My heart goes out to all those in politics who think with the people in mind and not their "team".

I have the right to to base my political decisions on my religious beliefs JUST like you do. The main difference in the two of us is that I am willing to grant you that right, you apparently are not willing to grant me the same.

Chris

I could not disagree with you more on Senator McCain. He sold us down the river with his McCain-Feingold Revocation of the First Amendment act and now he has voided yet another section of the constitution with this spineless deal with the Democrats. You are right this is not a game, it is significantly more important than that, it is about the Constitution.

Anonymous, I know this will give you conniptions, but it so happens that the Founding Fathers were extremely religious men who based almost their entire way of thinking on religion, or at least in the belief of God. You don't have to go further than the Declaration of Independence: " ... We hold these truths to be self-evident, that men were created equal, that they are endowed by their CREATOR with certain unalienable rights ..." etc., etc., etc.

Just in case you had any doubts, when they said "Creator," they WERE NOT referring to government.

Chris, your idealization of McCain is almost beyond belief. You must be very young, or extremely gullible. Or both.

McCain IS a traitor. And he does NOT think of the people, he thinks of McCain. He is completely enamoured of this role of enfant terrible (that's French for "maverick" .. or close enough) of the Republican party, he absolutely loves the attention of the liberal media, and don't let anyone tell you any different.

All this is his revenge on Bush for eliminating from the presidential campaign. Now he has eliminated himself from any future presidential campaign and I can only thank God for that.

If walking the party line is not a good thing, what in your opinion is? If you are not going to walk the party line, why bother to register with that party at all. If your idea of a "good thing" is not supporting your party in the important things (and what could be more imporant than ridding the party of activist judges who legislate from the bench in order to forward the agenda of some interest groups?), then waht is? No, caving in is not the right answer. Try again.

Let me explain something to you, child. Dissent is perfectly ok among members of a party. I have disagreed with President Bush on more than one occasion. But constant dissent is a sign of something else. Plunging the knife in the back of your fellow party members (including the president) is NOT a good thing. The likes of McCain, Snowe, Collins, etc., have a sad history of betraying the president and the party - not to mention their constituencies - way too often on all the things that make the republican party, for anyone with half a brain to consider it mere "dissent."

You said "Walking the party line is NOT a good thing. Using your head is." I suggest you start by setting the example.

And keep your heart in its proper place, do yourself a favor. Looks like it's much too flighty an organ to be trusted to wander about.
