I am posting this here because I cant post it on my favorite BB.
I have not changed my views on Harry Potter. It is badly written fiction. A work of fantasy. It is not my kind of book but it is no more "Dangerous" than The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Bewitched TV Show or the early Batman Comics.
Anyone that reads more than fiction/fantasy into these books either needs to seek some very good Mental Health Experts or RENT A LIFE. Stop spending all of your time going frame by frame through Disney movies or page by page through fiction books looking for things to be offended by. If you dont like Magic and dont want to read about it then DONT! In case it slipped your notice Book Burnings went out in the 1940's.
Just for the Record I refuse to kowtow to anyone, I will speak my mind whenever I feel like it. If this offends certain over zealous quasi religious elements of the Taliban wing of Christianity ---- TOO DAMN BAD. Be a big boy and get over it.
If the fact that your "advice" aint worth shit in my opionon upsets your little apple cart --------- TOO DAMN BAD. Be a big boy and get over it.
I say exactly what I mean, and I mean exactly what I say, and I will be damned if I am gonna change my ways to please some delusional paranoid self styled arbitrator of everything that is holy and correct.

Bill, could NOT agree with you more.
Heaven sake, it's FANTASY, people! I was brought up on stories by the Grimm Brothers, Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen, etc. Did that interfere with my being a Christian? Of course not! My parents explained to me that magic was just that: magic. And that it did not exist.
I never read a Harry Potter book, but saw all the films. They're fun and that's IT.
You want to talk about pernicious fantasy? How about the lies that the NEA dictates that teachers "teach" in schools? Now, THAT's something that scares the holy sugar out of me.
