Obsessed with Trivialities

Obsessed with Trivialities

Sometimes you have to ask yourself have we lost our way? I am as sorry as anyone when someone passes away, even more so when the person in question is young and had so much to live for. Its a shame, but the only tragic part of it is the poor child that is being fought over by the various "Fathers". Of course the fact that Anna Nicole Smith was worth in excess of Four Hundred Million dollars has no bearing whatsoever on fight for custody of her only heir and as a direct result the control of the Cash! We have had nonstop coverage of the insanity surrounding the "Death" of this "Star" since her drug induced passing. Call me cold blooded if you will but I am really not that concerned about the whole thing. Lest we forget, She got her start posing for a "nudie" magazine then she really made it big when she married a 90 year old billionaire. I am sure they were deeply in love, Him with her body and Her with his wallet.

Finally, the Anne Nicole Smith hurricane is starting to ease and we get the Oscar tornado. Who will win, who has won, who has never won, who was not nominated, why oh why. Frankly, I don't care. Here is a list of the Movies nominated for Best Picture in 2007:

1) The Queen -- a movie about how the royal family of England handled the death of Princess Di.

2) The Departed -- Yet another Gangster Movie that slaughters more people than a Chicago Meat Packing company does Cows.

3) Babel -- Anti-American claptrap that leaves no doubt that the United States is to blame for Terrorism and all the other evils of the world.

4) Letters from Iwo Jima -- the story of Iwo Jima told from the viewpoint of the Japanese. Yes, we want to make sure and portray the people that attacked Pearl Harbor without warning in a "good light". I mean after all that war was our fault too.

5) Little Miss Sunshine -- This one is actually supposed to be a cute little movie about a slightly deranged family.

Do any of these "Great" films bring to mind Gone With the Wind? Grapes of Wrath? Birth of a Nation? 2001: a Space Odyssey? or even Rocky or Chariots of Fire. I am not trying to suggest that the movies being made are not as good as they used to be, I am coming right out and saying it. If it was not for the improvements in Special Effects their would be absolutely no reason to pay the excessive ticket prices at the theater.

My Point, you might ask? We as a nation are becoming obsessed with Trivialities, public idiocy and televised trash. Time to turn off the TV, miss that latest Reality show and go next door and meet your neighbor. Take your kids out for a walk, Go introduce yourself to the new Preachers we have here in town. Try it you might like it.

Completely agree. With the fact that most movies today are pure crap disguised with great special effects. I also agree with taking the family on a walk, meeting neighbors, and just socializing in general. Too much anonymity between neighbors any more.

Good blog. Enjoying reading it!
