Super Bowl Sunday

Day 35 Still NOT Smoking

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and it's our turn to host the Super Bowl Party. This Year we are serving Crockpot Spicy Pecans as a Snack, 4 cheese Mexican Tortilla Appetizer, and Beef and Cheese Topped Corn Chips at Half Time. Much like watching the game is as much about the Commericals as it is about the game, the Watch Party is as much about the "Eats" as it is about the game.

This will be our 15th annual Super Bowl watching Party. Of course we have missed a year here and there, One year Randy was in England, another my truck would not start on Super Bowl morning but we have tried to get together every Super Bowl since Mike came home from Desert Storm (Iraq War I). Over the years the group has changed quite a bit. The only "regulars" at these things are Randy and Me. When Randy hosts, his daughter Heather and her husband Tommy usually attend. Mike came to the first few, then lost intrest and we lost track of him completely. Larry attended the first one, which was as much a welcome home to Mike as it was anything else. This year we are expecting James Jones, Jeff Guyton, E4 and Joel to attend.

The game itself starts at 6PM tonight and is between the Baltimore-Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears. The Colts have not won a Super Bowl since they defeated my beloved Cowboys in Super Bowl 5. They still lived in Baltimore at that time, before Robert Irsay and Bekins Moving made their midnight move to Indianoplis. The Bears have not won the Super Bowl since 1985. Both teams have won exactly One Super Bowl off the previous 40. The Bears have never LOST a Super Bowl, The Colts lost Super Bowl 3 to the NY Jets (Before the merger when the Colts were still a NFC team).
