Rioting Begins to Slack Off in France

PARIS

Although rioting persisted in some places for a 13th night, car burnings fell by nearly half and reports of violence dropped. Nonetheless, looters and vandals defied a state of emergency imposed by the government Tuesday, with attacks on superstores in northern France and a newspaper warehouse and a subway station in the south.

French Riviera City of Nice Imposes Curfew

Authorities in the French Riviera city of Nice imposed a curfew on minors and authorized police raids Wednesday, and the nation's interior minister said the government should deport the 120 foreigners convicted of crimes during the wave of rioting and unrest.

Arabs Blame French Society, Discrimination

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- France's riots have set off a round of troubled debate across the Arab world: Most here blame a failure to offer opportunity to immigrants, but others see a more ominous clash of cultures over Islam.

Across the Middle East, the images of burning cars and stone-throwing young people have dominated newspapers and television. Analysts have hotly debated the riots' meaning, their cause and whether they might spread.

IN other news around the world or at least of importance to me. Here in Texas we passed the Constitutional Amendment that would ban Gay marriage. Actually it does not "Ban" Gay marriage but it does state that the only marriages that will be recognized legally are marriages between ONE man and ONE woman.

All Day I been hearing the "Pundits" say that yesterday's election results in New Jersey, Virginia and California spell the end of the Bush Presidency. Well Gee Wilkers New Jersey replaced its Democrat Govenor with a Democrat, Virginia replaced its Democrat Govenor with a Democrat and The Land of the Lunatics rejected EVERY single measure on the ballot. Not just the conservative ones but the ultraliberal ones too. Seems to me that nothing changed. Perhaps the "Pundits" are reading alot more into the results than actually exist.
