Dubai or Not to Dubai, that is the Question?
Dubai or Not to Dubai, that is the Question? Is it nobler in the mind to sacrifice our National Security on the alter of better relations with a "Moderate" muslin nation or to stand fast against Political Correctness and demand that the Administration put at least as much thought into who can buy the company that unloads the ships coming into American ports as You or I would put into who we allow to date our daughters.
Lest we forget, On September 11th, 2001 Nineteen Muslims, (3 of which were from UAE), hijacked 4 Airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York, The Pentagon, and thanks to the valiant American Hero passengers, the fourth plane went down in a field in Pennsylvania. Part of the Money used to finance these Terrorists was laundered thru UAE banks. The UAE was one of the three nations in the world that recognized the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan. Many of us remember watching scenes of Radical Muslims dancing in the streets to celebrate the events of 911, some of those scenes were from Dubai. These people are not our friends!
As the events of the last week have unfolded, we have learned that the President was unaware of the deal until it had already been made, We learned that the Secretary of Defense was unaware of the deal until it had already been made, We learned the Secretary of Homeland Defense was unaware of the deal until it had already been made. Yet we are told that the deal was completely "Vetted"! By Whom and exactly what was the method used to "Vette" this company -- seeing if their checks could clear the bank?
Many intelligent, and usually trustworthy, conservative columnists are saying that the only thing that will change is the name of the company that cuts the checks to the workers. Anyone remember Braniff Airlines being sold to Eastern Airlines in 1982? The only thing to change was going to be the name on the paychecks. When was the last time you caught a flight on Braniff Airlines or Eastern Airlines for that matter? Braniff, after being sold to Eastern Airlines closed up shop and its last flight was on May 11th 1982. Does anyone remember when Kmart was sold to Sears a few years back? The experts told us the only thing that will change will be the name on the paycheck. In case you have not noticed, there are no Kmarts in the Dallas-Ft Worth area anymore. I don't think they are any in Texas.
Whenever a company is sold, the new owners make changes. Personnel Changes, business philosophy changes, and attitude changes. Currently the company in question is owned by a British Company, if President Bush allows this sale to go thru it will be owned by a Dubai Ports World. Dubai Ports World is owned by the UAE (United Arab Emirates). The UAE is a Muslim Nation. We are told it is a "Moderate" Muslim nation, however that does not mean that they recognize Israel's right to exist. It does not mean that they reject Osama Bin Laden and Al Queda's terrorist war against the United States.
This is not a good deal. It should not be allowed to go through.
