Random Rants

It is once again safe to go out in public. You can drive around town and actually see the houses again. The Primary Election is over, the politicians have all gone back to their normal haunts, and those campaign signs have gone back into storage. You can safely go to the store without being assaulted by someone asking for your vote. That, of course, is the good news. Now, the bad news, the election is not over. The results of the Republican Primary Election for Justice of the Peace, Pct 3 (That's us) was Jim Sumrow 270, Aaron Williams 265 and Jim Johnson 44. None of the three candidates received 50% of the vote, which means that we will have a runoff election on April 11th. So, we get one more chance to decide if we want Jim Sumrow or Aaron Williams to run in the November General Election. Please show up and vote in the Run Off.

A Few days ago, the Supreme Court of the United States of America decided that Colleges that accept Federal Funds, have to allow military recruiters on their campus. Maybe it's just me, but I don't have a problem with representatives of the United States Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines trying to recruit people to defend our nation. I have been told that, in some ways, I am a bit old fashioned, but these colleges strike me as being a bit ungrateful. They want the Military or National Guard to respond in a hurry when we are attacked, or a Hurricane hits, but heaven forbid those "Warmongers" dirty their campus.Speaking of insanity on the campus. Exactly what are they putting in the water in Colorado? First they give us Ward Churchill who called the terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center "Freedom Fighters" and the American victims little "Eikmans". Now, they give us Jay Bennish, a High School Geography teacher, who went on a 20 minute rant in class comparing President Bush's State of the Union speech to Hitler's speeches in the 1930's. "Mr Bennish" went on to say that the United States of America was the most violent nation on the planet. I am just curious, is it legal to do hard drugs in Colorado, or is it, maybe, the extremely thin air?

The Oscars were awarded last week. The Two Straight guys playing "Gay Cowboys" did not win Oscars. Neither did the movie. The Straight Guy playing a "Gay" writer did win best Actor for Capote. I know it is not Politically Correct to point this out, but I don't think the majority of America shares Hollywood's obsession with presenting gay characters as "Heroes". I don't mean to seem rude, but to be completely honest, I don't really have any desire to see more movies or TV shows about gay characters. According to experts, 10% of America is Gay, if that is true, then how come every show and movie has to have a main character that shares that perversion.

OK, I feel better now.
