On The Home Front: Random Thoughts

The hazy lazy days of summer are here again. As I sit on my front porch looking out on the lake that was once my front yard several ideals are bouncing around in my head. I will not claim that they are profound or insightfull, they are just things that keep nagging at me. I would like to share some of them with yall, if you dont mind.

1) The Hunt County fair just ended and it was a dismal failure. I have seen more people show up at Hastings to buy the new Harry Potter book. I understand that it rained alot this year during the fair but it always does. As hard as I try I can't come up with a legitimate reason for the small crowds. The funnel cakes were still great, the sausage on a stick terrific and don't even get me started on the turkey legs. Most of the local bands that played at the fair were worth listening too and all the livestock shows and craft displays were fascinating. Where were the crowds? Why didn't you go this year, please write the paper to tell us what Hunt County needs to do to improve the fair.

2) What do we have to do to convince the President and the Senate that we do not support Amnesty or Amnesty Lite. We are not racists, we are not fringe nutbags! We are simply hard working Americans that want ou borders secured and our laws enforced.

3) Is there anything that does not cause cancer in Lab rats? I also want to know what kind of weirdo spends his whole day force feeding mexican food, popcorn, diet coke and gasoline fumes to poor defenseless Lab rats.

4) Why isn't anyone writing letters to the editor? Surely I have offended someone with my bi-weekly rants. Tell me why I am wrong, write the editor to tell her that I am crazy. Write the Editor to tell her what the City is doing wrong, or right. Give us some feedback, this is your paper --- we work for you.

Some random questions:

Have they fixed the jail yet? Why are we having Presidential debates six months before the first primary? Why don't we have a single cafe in Celeste? Why is there no fireworks display in Hunt County this year on the fourth of July? Does anyone actually read this column?IMPEACH
