I know It is only September of 2007 and the Presidential election does not "Officially" kick off till October when candidates can first file to run for the office but seems like many of the candidates are already spewing more manure than you would find in the Ft Worth Stockyards. If you are a regular reader to this column you know that I am a hard core conservative Republican with little or no patience for the Ultra liberal attitude of people like Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi but the BS being spouted this year is getting a bit on the ridiculous side. Lets take a look at a few of the things some of the Candidates are saying.
Senator (1 term only) John Edwards, Democrat, is now proposing a National Health Care plan that would require people to go to see the Doctor even when they are not sick. Senator Edwards says ""If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK." His plan would also be mandatory for every single American whether they want it or not. His plan would by his estimate cost us $120 Billion dollars a year. How do you suppose he is going pay for this? Can you say RAISE TAXES?
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat, says she wants to promote energy independence for the United States and end our dependence on Foreign Oil. You would think that means she supports drilling for oil in Amwar and off the costs of the United States to tap the proven oil fields that exist there. Think Again! She proposes a a Strategic Energy Fund that would inject $50 Billion tax dollars into research in Alternative energies. She wants to pay for this fund by raising the taxes on the oil companies. Let me tell you a little secret --- Companies do NOT pay taxes. They instead pass them on to the consumer. That's you and Me!
Congressman Ron Paul, Republican, seems not to have a grasp on reality. Many of the things he says seem to sound right to most conservatives like myself until you take the time to do a little digging. Congressman Paul voted to defund the troops in Iraq and is in favor of an immediate with-drawl of all our troops. At the Straw Poll, September 1st 2007 in Ft Worth, he stated he believes that the troops should be brought home and placed on our Southern border. Now that sounds good, appeals to people like me that are extremely concerned about the ongoing invasion of illegal aliens. The only minor little problem with the ideal is that it is ILLEGAL! The Posse Comitatus Act passed in 1878 bars the use of Military Troops to enforce the law within the United States, including federal law like the one that controls illegal immigration.
Senator John McCain, Republican was one of the driving forces behind the recent attempt to grant "Amnesty" to millions of "Undocumented Workers" that have been in our country illegally for years. In spite of the fact that Senator McCain is from Arizona he does not seem to understand that most American do NOT support Amnesty for people who have invaded our country and ignore our laws.
These are only four examples of the idiocy being spouted by some of the folks running for President. It is by no means the only examples. I will not presume to tell you who to vote for, only your conscience and your own political leanings can determine that. I wont even presume to influence people (Today) by telling you who I support. Instead I will ask that you take the time to study what every candidate is saying before you decide who to support. Some of these folks asking for our votes are not only not fit to be president but they should not be let out without a keeper.
Keep America Free --- VOTE DUNCAN HUNTER!!!!
