An Elite Team No Longer

As much as it pains me to say it, the time has come that we admit that the Dallas Mavericks are NO longer an elite team in the NBA. The Jason Kidd experiment has been a total failure. Personally I dont think the failure is do to Jason Kidd, the fault instead can be placed squarely on the shoulders of Avery Johnson. Please dont misunderstand me, Avery has been a great coach during the first two years of his time here in Dallas. However, much like Bill Parcells and other "Boot Camp" coaches his over the top screaming only works as long as the team wins. The seeds of doubt were planted with the 1st round defeat in last years playoffs by the lowely little Golden State Warriors. The Mavs were not out played they were out coached! Time after time this season we have seen the Mavs look flat against great teams, they just dont seem to be able to get up for the big teams. The Mavs traded several good players and a boat load of money to bring in Jason Kidd to add the "punch" that we seem to lack. A move that should have worked, unfornately Avery Johnson does not seem to have any ideal of how to use Kidd. It's time to make a change!
