Grand Opening Hunt County Republican Party Headquarters

First I want to welcome all of yall to our new headquarters and thank you for making it happen. This new building will make it possible for the Hunt County Republican Party to have a much bigger presence in the community. It will also afford us many more options such as hosting the Club meetings, the election result parties or candidate events. We have done a good job in the last 4 years of growing our party here in Hunt County but now is not the time to rest. We need to have a stronger presence in the Commerce area; we need to reach out to the folks that have felt ignored by the National Republican Party.

Here in 2008 we stand at a crossroads in time. Nationally the choices for President are Not what we had hoped for. The democrats have yet to choose between their two candidates, one a 2 term carpet bagging Senator from New York who cant tell the difference between sniper fire and camera’s going off. A senator whose main claim to fame is that she was married to one of the worst Presidents in out lifetimes. Let me ask you a rhetorical question --- IF your car needs new brakes do you take it to a mechanic or to someone that is married to a mechanic and spent 8 years listening to him talking about fixing cars? The shame of it is that Ms Clinton is the democrat’s best candidate. Senator Obama although a very dynamic speaker has about the same amount of hands on experience as a waitress at Denny’s. They do both have a few things in common, They both voted in FAVOR of partial birth Abortions, they would both nominate Judges to the Supreme Court that would continue us down this ACLU driven path of Rights for Terrorist in Guantanmo. They both oppose the second amendment, they both want to raise your taxes, they both want to surrender to the Terrorists and withdraw from Iraq. They both think that some faceless bureaucrat in Washington DC can do a better job of deciding what type of health care you need than you can! John McCain may not be perfect but at least he will appoint Judges to the Supreme Court that understand a Judge’s job is to interpret the law NOT write it from the bench. John McCain will support the right to life! John McCain will support our Constitutional right to bear arms! John McCain will FIGHT and WIN this war against Terrorism!

Locally we have the choice in our congressional race between a man who has consitantely voted to protect our country. A man who has consistently voted to protect our borders. A man who has consitantly voted to protect the right to life and our right to bear arms. A man who took office while most of us were still in diapers Congressman Ralph Hall. And his opponent who supports Abortion, who wants to raise our taxes, who wants a National Health Car plan and who wants to surrender to the Terrorists in the Middle East.

Our County races will be hard fought this year because the Democrats are going to have a huge turnout for the General just like they did for the Primary. We need to get out and work to elect our conservative candidates in November. We cant afford a Sheriff that has been out of the Law Enforcement business for a decade or more, We cant afford a District Attorney that would be soft on the people who break our laws, we cant afford to squander this chance to gain control of the Hunt County Courthouse.

For those of yall that live in Greenville there is yet another reason that you have to vote come November. If you have been to Wal-Mart in the last week, then you know there is a petition drive going to put beer and wine sales on the ballot. Do you want a liquor store just around the corner from your house? Do you want the increase in crime that always follows these stores? They are saying keep our tax dollars in Greenville, I have to ask you when are tax dollars more important than the safety of our streets? If you are willing to embrace beer and liquor sales in order to get more tax dollars what other vices will you turn a blind eye to for that almighty Sales Tax dollar?

The only way we are going to ensure that our values and our beliefs have influence in Hunt County is to make a commitment to OUR Republican Party. For those of us that can afford it a finical commitment to support the party. IF we could get 40 people to make as little as a $25 dollar a month commitment to the party we could not only continue the progress we have made but we could expand it. Those of us that honestly cant afford to support the party financially can’t support it with their time and work. Eventually I would like to see this office open at least three days a week during the key months of September and October. I would like to see the Party have a strong presense at the County Fair this year and that takes volunteers to man the booth. I would like to see the Party have a presense at Bois De’Arc and that takes volunteers to man the booth. I would like to see us have a phone bank set up for the election this year. All of these things are possible all it takes is a lot of work by a few people or a little work by a lot of people.
